| Bicycling - Our award winning boardwalk features a bicycle path that runs along the entire length. Most boardwalks don't allow bicycles at all, and the ones who do usually restrict their use to early morning hours or certain restricted areas. In Virginia Beach you can ride all day long. In fact, I highly recommend it! |
| Churches - Virginia Beach has many churches and just about every denomination represented. All of our churches and spiritual organizations are accustomed to out-of-town guests, and are very good at making newcomers feel welcome. |
| Eco tourism - Virginia Beach is an excellent eco tourism spot. In the winter we are often visited by migrating humpback whales. The rest of the year you can take a Dolphin watching trip and see our playful bottlenose dolphins as they play and jump in the bow wave of your tour boat. If you want to get a little closer, you might try a sea kayak trip where the dolphins will often come right up to your kayak to say hi. It seems that they are as curious about us as we are about them. You can't be that close to one of those beautiful animals without being deeply effected by the experience. We are also a nesting spot for sea turtles and many rare species of birds are known to stop in Virginia Beach on their migratory paths. |
| Fishing - We are extremely lucky here in Virginia Beach. People come here from all over the world to fish our waters. Forget about the fact that we have the best striped bass fishing in the world. The Gulf Stream comes very close to our waters which means you never know what you might catch here. Swordfish, Blues, Mahi, Tuna, Shark and dozens more. |
| Golf - Test your skill on one of our challenging courses. You could play two courses per day for a week and still not hit every tee. Sure there's a resort with over one hundred courses, but how many can you actually play? And besides, wouldn't you rather come to Virginia Beach and save yourself more than seven extra hours of driving? |
| Historical Sites - Virginia Beach isn't just the largest resort city in the world. We're more than the record holder for the longest pleasure beach in the world. Virginia Beach is THE place where the first permanent settlers set foot in the new world. On April 26th, 1607, the colonists who founded Jamestown came ashore at a spot near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay at Cape Henry, (just north of the resort area). |

| Surfing - Virginia Beach is home to the East Coast Surfing Championships which have been held right here every year since 1961. Sure they have bigger waves in Hawaii, but you'll have just as much fun here and we're a LOT closer! |
